When Survivors Give Birth

Workshop leader Jenn Fontaine is one of a handful of people worldwide who have been personally trained and mentored by Penny Simkin and accredited to present and facilitate the When Survivors Give Birth workshop.

This important client care workshop focuses on understanding and healing the effects of childhood sexual abuse on childbearing women. This is the first time this unique training has been offered in Australia. Anyone working with childbearing women will gain knowledge and skills in this one-of-a-kind workshop, which is the culmination of decades of collaboration between Penny Simkin, PT, CCE, CD(DONA), and Phyllis Klaus, MFT, LMSW. Together they also wrote the 2004 book of the same name, When Survivors Give Birth.

Spinning Babies Workshop

Are you a doula, midwife, childbirth educator, body worker or other health care professional that would like to learn more practical and evidence based tools and techniques to prepare women during their pregnancy for an easier labour and birth?

In this Spinning Babies workshop, you will learn how the fascia, ligaments, and pelvis work together to bring baby into an ideal position. The Three Principles of Balance, Gravity, and Movement will help you understand the role each part of a woman’s anatomy plays in birth and delivery. Specific methods will be provided for changing posterior position and reducing breech and transverse lie, thereby reducing the need for a caesarean delivery.

Rachel Reed – Physiological Birth & Inductions

Dr. Rachel Reed is coming to Perth to talk about physiological labour and birth and induction of labour – what’s the evidence and how care providers and birth doulas can support women through inductions.

This workshop is open to midwives, obstetricians, health care providers, childbirth educators, birth workers, doulas, pregnant women and anyone interested in labour and birth.

Rachel Reed – Private Doula Workshop

This is a more in-depth workshop for doulas or birth professionals to work privately in a small group with Dr Rachel Reed. She will answer your questions and provide you with tools and techniques to work with your pregnant clients and health care professionals more effectively.

She will cover physiology, inductions, VBAC and lots more specifically related to doulas, special circumstances and role plays. This workshop will be an “ask me anything” environment and provide you with valuable information to increase your knowledge and perception of birth.
