I’m Amy, an energetic little pocket rocket, with hugs like a warm ray of sunshine and a life’s purpose to spread a little positivity everywhere I go.
What’s my deal?
When I was 11, I asked my parents for a younger sibling… My brother and sister had one, why was I missing out? A little over 9 months later, my mum woke me up at 1am and we made our way to the birthing centre at RPA Hospital in Sydney.
Telling my dad to sit and relax, I became (unbeknownst to me) my Mumma’s Birth Doula.
I held her hand, said all the right things, helped the midwives with anything and everything I could. I floated with mum in the deep labour pool, breathed with her as she transitioned and then after my little brother was born, I cut the cord and proclaimed to all the women (and my dad) in the room, “One day, I WILL do this for a living”.
Fast forward quite a few years later, I am a proud Mumma of 3 handsome boys and I have enjoyed a wonderful long and blessed career working with children, babies and women in health.
Now, I run a successful kids and adult yoga therapy business, best of all, I have achieved my life dream of becoming the keeper of sacred birth space …. As a doula- and my soul feels complete.
Being a doula isn’t just about information, for me it’s innate, fostered from birth. An opportunity to find an instinctive balance and help change lives in an intimate way.
My belief as a pregnancy/ birth and postpartum Doula is when family come together as one, they create a birth experience that is so uniquely special, and so uniquely theirs!
Working together in pregnancy, we create a personal birth journey where you and your partner know in your hearts, that your ‘birth day’ story was all you imagine it would be…. Nurturing a truly unique birth experience- from the moment we meet, to well beyond the birth.
My favourite quote, is my own “Every birth is a precious gift, no matter how it’s unwrapped.”
My name is Amy Murphy, and I am an emerging doula with the Doula Training Academy. I am providing care to families within the Hunter Valley/ Newcastle/ Lake Macquarie and Central Coast regions of NSW.
