I’m Courtney – mama, wife, birth nerd and the owner of The Birth Fairy Doula.
I’m a mum to a little man, I love country music and am more than slightly obsessed with dogs!
I have always known that my calling was to be within the birth space but for many years I didn’t know how that would look. In 2020 a friend told me about Doula’s – I’d never even heard of a doula before that – and it was literally like a switch went on in my head. This was it! This was what I was born to do.
In 2021 began studying but while going through my own fertility and health struggles the timing for me to help other mamas wasn’t quite right.
In 2022 I welcomed my own rainbow baby. The pregnancy was high risk, his birth was traumatic and full of uncertainty, stress and infections. My mental health took a nose-dive, and I was diagnosed with postpartum depression, anxiety, birth trauma and PTSD when he was 6 months old.
The experience we had was not how I imagined it would be. It was not calm and relaxing and full of laughter; it was not at all how the movies made it seem. It was exhausting and stressful and full of doctors’ appointments, medications and honestly was a bit of a blur. It’s not nice but it is part of my story and now my mission is to use the lessons I have learned and struggles I have faced to help other mums and families – those expecting their first babies and those who have had their own traumas.
I want to be your guide, advocate, and friend as you navigate the beautiful (and messy) adventure of pregnancy, birth and postpartum. From those 2 little lines to baby’s first birthday and everything in between, I’m here to walk with you, laugh with you and to make sure you feel heard, celebrated and powerful like the queen you are.
Forget any doula stereotypes you may have heard and trust me – there’s no hippy vibes here! Just genuine support, good vibes, and great snacks. I offer pregnancy, birth and postpartum support as well as birth pool hire and the ability to create the birth space of your dreams.
