How do we change a broken maternity system?

This book has been written by 24 co-authors who share their thoughts, opinions, experiences, and wisdom about birth and our current maternity system. With the birthing of this book, we hope that this will enable couples to be prepared for the challenges they may face and how to navigate through obstacles that might detract from a positive, calm birth – no matter how their baby is born.

As a feminist and a birth worker, my mission has always been about the rights of women, and with 2021 subjecting us all to an overload of pandemic lockdowns and mandates, my beliefs are now even more fierce than they ever have been.

Hypnobirthing classes in Perth, Hypnobirthing, childbirth education, vaginal birth, pushing baby out of my vagina, Vicki Hobbs, doula in Perth, doula, VBAC, VBAC statistics, maternity, mothers and babies, cesarean, caesarean, vaginal birth after caesarean, VBAC in Australia, Hypnobirthing Australia, vaginal birth after cesarean, ACOG, RANZCOG, birth, pregnancy, rights of childbearing woman in Australia, positive birth, Spinning Babies, placenta encapsulation, orgasm, vagina, oxytocin, Family Birthing Centre, pushing a baby out of my vagina, birth without fear, positive birth, calm birth, home birth, CMP, Community Midwifery Program, accidental home birth, baby’s choice birth, King Edward Memorial Hospital, clitoris, perineum, episiotomy, St John of God Hospital, Doula Training Academy, Birth New Anthology,

To me, feminism is not about one thing. It is about educating the community about a woman’s right to walk down the street safely. That she has the right to walk alone, she has the right to wear what she wants, and that she has the right to protect her body. Feminism is about protecting the rights of girls and women – to consent, to not consent, and to be able to withdraw consent at any time, including within birth.

In this book we have strong, powerful women who share their birth stories and what they did to take back their power as a birthing mother.

The forward has been written by one of the wisest birth workers and women I know, Jane Hardwicke Collings.
