My name is Ebru Atacik and I am a mother of three, VBAC advocate and experienced in caesarean births.
My Journey
After the birth of my third child, I realised the importance of having a supportive and understanding advocate during childbirth, especially when attempting a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean). My personal experiences with childbirth—having had three caesarean sections and attempting for a VBAC—ignited my passion to become a doula. I have had my birth experiences at Lyell McEwin Hospital and am familiar with many of the midwives and obstetricians there.
My Mission
As a doula, my goal is to:
- Be a voice and advocate for expecting mothers.
- Help mothers take control of their birthing experiences.
- Provide support and education throughout conception, pregnancy, birth, and labour.
Focus Areas
- VBAC Support: Guiding and advocating for women who wish to have a vaginal birth after a caesarean.
- Caesarean Birth Support: Offering compassionate support and information for those planning or recovering from a caesarean birth.
- Prenatal Support: Providing emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy.
- Birth Planning: Assisting with creating personalised birth plans and educating clients about their options.
- Labor Support: Offering continuous support during labour with pain management techniques like breathing exercises, massage, and positioning.
- Postpartum Support: Helping with the transition to parenthood, breastfeeding support, and addressing postpartum depression and anxiety.
- Lactation Support: Assisting with breastfeeding techniques and troubleshooting challenges.
- Sibling Support: Preparing older children for the arrival of a new sibling and offering support during labour and delivery.
- Bereavement Support: Providing compassionate support for families experiencing pregnancy or infant loss.
- Fertility and Conception Support: Assisting individuals and couples with fertility treatments and conception challenges.
- High-Risk Pregnancy Support: Offering specialised support for high-risk pregnancies and navigating potential complications.
- Teen and Young Parent Support: Providing tailored support and resources for teenage and young parents.
- Cultural and Religious Sensitivity: Respecting and supporting cultural and religious practices related to childbirth.
- Holistic and Alternative Approaches: Incorporating holistic practices such as aromatherapy, acupressure, and herbal remedies.
Why Choose Me?
- Personal Experience: I have firsthand experience with both caesarean and an attempt to VBAC births, understanding the challenges and triumphs involved.
- Education and Advocacy: With extensive knowledge in conception, pregnancy, birth, and Labour, I aim to empower mothers with the information and support they need.
- Local Knowledge: Having delivered my children at Lyell McEwin Hospital, I am familiar with many of the midwives and obstetricians there.
- Empathy and Support: I am dedicated to being the supportive person you can rely on, helping you enjoy your special journey and make informed decisions.
My motivation stems from my personal experiences. I want to be the doula who inspires women in ways I wasn’t inspired. I aim to empower women to take control of their bodies and decisions, ensuring they are well-informed and supported throughout their journey. I am driven by the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of women during this pivotal and vulnerable time.
My Promise
I am committed to making a positive impact on your childbirth experience, ensuring you feel supported, informed, and in control every step of the way.
