I am Michaela. I am a doula who completed an extensive doula training with Vicki Hobbs at the Doula Training Academy.
I also study psychology and I am a mum to two little humans and engaged to my fiancée Darren.
We live in Perth, Western Australia.
My doula journey begun when I gave birth to my second child. Towards the end of my pregnancy, my baby was breech. I was planning on a family birth centre water birth but since my baby wasn’t in the “perfect” position, I wasn’t allowed to. The lack of options, the constant presentations of the risks and never ending tries to turn my baby to head down position left me in tears after most of my dr. appointments.
When I was 38 weeks, my birth centre midwife was transferred to a different hospital, and I was informed she will no longer attend my birth. That last one familiar and friendly face who had trust in me and my body to give birth naturally. The loss of continuity of care was devastating and stressful and I wish I had someone who would provide comfort and encouragement, resources, and support. I believe every woman needs and deserves continuity of care. It doesn’t matter if you are experiencing a smooth, straight forward pregnancy or going through pregnancy complications.
I am here for you. I am your continuous pregnancy, birth and postpartum support. I doula you through the thick and thin. I am your shoulder to cry on when things get emotional (I will probably cry with you knowing myself). I am here for the laughs too. I am here for your partner. I am here to show him how he can be the best support for you. And lastly, I promise to offer my non-judgmental and unconditional support throughout your magnificent journey.
