Ney Kelegouris - Student Doula

Hello! I’m Ney, an emerging doula based in Southeast Melbourne.

I live with my wonderful husband, daughter, and 4 fur babies. It’s safe to say my house resembles a zoo most days. My daughter is the absolute light of my life, she is the sweetest and sassiest kid I know. As parents, we value trusting our instincts and cultivating a home that is loving, respectful, and seeks connection above anything else. We’ve co-slept, fed to sleep, and don’t put any pressure on ourselves or our daughter to fit into any expectations of how things “should be”. Being a mum has always been my deepest desire and I’m truly so grateful for my little family.

I can’t live without coffee, will never say no to a cheeky cocktail, love being outdoors, and am usually in bed by 8pm watching Friends for the millionth time. I’m down to earth, empathetic, and all about genuine connections.

I’m a qualified social worker with 6 years of experience working with children and families, supporting individuals impacted by trauma, and have most recently worked in a healthcare setting.

After a traumatic birth in May 2022 and a very isolating postpartum experience, I realised there is a huge gap in our system with very limited support for mothers during the perinatal period. Despite thinking I was well prepared, I didn’t fully understand my options, and didn’t feel like I could speak up for myself throughout my pregnancy and birth.

Ultimately, I found the system incredibly disappointing and difficult to navigate.

In my efforts to find postpartum support, I became completely obsessed with all things birth and motherhood, and somehow stumbled upon the wonderful world of birth work and doulas and just knew this was what I was meant to do.

I am genuinely passionate about supporting women on their journeys to motherhood and recognise that everyone’s experience is incredibly unique. I want women to feel empowered, respected, and valued throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. As your doula, my hope is that you are given the opportunity to celebrate this time in your life, and are able to reflect on your journey in a positive way.

My approach is deeply rooted in autonomy, I am here to respect and advocate for your right to make your own decisions that align with your unique values and preferences. No matter how or where you choose to birth your baby, I support you. I offer education, resources, a listening ear, and encouragement so that you feel well informed and confident about birth and motherhood. I am also an advocate for mental health and believe that emotional wellbeing plays a huge role in our experiences of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, but is not talked about often enough.

Mumma, you don’t need anyone to tell you how to birth and mother your baby, everything you need is already within you. I am simply here to hold your hand and fill in the gaps you’d like me to fill.

My name is Ney, I am an emerging doula who is training at the Doula Training Academy, and service the Southeastern Suburbs of Melbourne. If I sound like your type of gal, and you would like to chat more about how I can support you, please reach out! I would love to hear from you.
